TROTT Vision

Through networking, TROTT will provide a safety net for those horses at risk of being auction bound. Owners may donate a horse along with funds to care for it until TROTT finds a permanent adoptive home. In emergency cases, TROTT will take a donated horse and assume all costs of care until it can be placed into a permanent adoptive home. Adoption placements will be monitored to ensure no TROTT horse ever ends up at auction. To achieve its mission,TROTT will actively seek donations and grants, as well as fundraise to ensure these noble animals have the life they deserve beyond the track.

TROTT Programs

TROTT partners with the SoCal racetracks to help find new homes for ex-racehorses through its referral database with sport horse trainers. We also take donated horses and find permanent adoptive homes. The TROTT horses are given a medical assessment, and when ready, are put into foundation training in order to assess their best career prospects. Our facilities are located in San Marcos and Carmel, California.

Online Services

TROTT's online services include free listings for race trainers/breeders/owners who wish to list their racehorses for sale to non-racing homes. TROTT's website attracts many buyers from sport horse disciplines looking for their next prospect. Trainers will work with those buyers directly. We also network at horse shows and events to bring awareness to OTTBs.

Trainer Options

1. Donate your Horse to TROTT for a tax receipt, and let us find him a permanent, non-racing adoptive home.

2. Donated horses will be taken immediately, funded by the sponsorship of our partner, the Teddy Cole Foundation.

3. Owner donations are greatly appreciated, but not mandatory.

By donating their horse to TROTT, the owner will not only get a tax receipt, but will enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing their horse will never disappear into an uncertain future. Click here to view our flyer.

TROTT Retraining Ranch Facility

Trainers and Owners may donate their ex-racehorse to TROTT for placement in our retraining facility. A donation to care for the horse until it is permanently adopted is encouraged, but all emergency cases will be considered as funds allow.
